Sixteen new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Del Norte Public Health Branch on Friday, making for a total of 71 active cases in the community.

Two people are hospitalized, according to the county’s COVID-19 Information Hub.

These new numbers come after Del Norte County saw 34 new cases. Meanwhile, the overall total of active COVID-19 patients decreased by two. In the last 14 days, there have 101 COVID-19 cases.

There are no new cases among Del Norte County’s incarcerated population and no inmates testing positive for COVID-19 at Pelican Bay State Prison, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Since the pandemic started, there has been a total of 1,213 COVID-19 cases and five deaths, according to the Public Health Department.
