Child Care Council Closing Little School of Redwoods, After School Centers at Redwood, Mary Peacock Schools Due to COVID-19

In response to COVID-19, the Del Norte Child Care Council will close its facilities at Redwood and Mary Peacock schools as well as its Little School of the Redwoods preschool.

From Child Care Council Executive Director Melodee Mitchell:

Dear parents, clients, community members and partners,

Del Norte Child Care Council understands that many of you are affected by the closure of DNUSD PreK-12th.

First, we empathize. Next, we take action. We ask that you give us a call so that we may help with your childcare needs.

If you have the ability to stay home with your child that would be ideal to help us slow the overflow of displaced children. Additionally you will be abiding by the "social distancing" directive set forth by the state and local officials.

My staff and I are currently calling all open family child care providers and centers to better inform you of your choices. Currently, we are still a low-risk county and all family child care providers are independent small business owners. We will support their choice to be open or closed.

As we support the decision of DNUSD, Del Norte Child Care Council will close our after school centers on both Redwood and Mary Peacock sites along with our preschool Little School of the Redwoods.

Please be patient as the information comes in and remember we are a community that is working together.
