Enjoy the cool weather while you can, Brookings.

Meteorologist Marc Spilde with Medord’s National Weather Service’s Office told the Outpost today that temperatures are expected to spike tomorrow, and could rise into the low 80s by next week.

“It’s going to warm up a little tomorrow,” Spilde said. “Much of it depends on whether or not the winds funnel down into the Chetco River Valley and bring warmth to the coast.”

Presently, it’s too early to know how the winds will align.

“It’s tough to say with any degree of certainty,” Spilde said. “High pressure is building offshore. The northeast winds have to be aligned right and have to be strong enough to prevent the marine air from getting into town.”

Tomorrow’s forecast shows a high of 75 degrees with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Crescent City residents can expect mild temperatures in the mid 60s throughout the week.
